Fulfilling My Dream of Sculpting Feather Dinosaurs
admin
The sculptor’s journey is often a solitary one, a path led by vision and fueled by the tactile joy of creation. At a young age, I was drawn to building with chicken wire and a medley of found materials to breathe life into fantastical forms that towered minimum 7 feet tall.
It was a process of ‘sounding out’ forms, an intuitive exploration of space and material. These sculptures were immersive, their grandeur a silent yet palpable narrative. Upon their completion, I was always moved by the response of their installation – They seemed to take people’s minds out of the present an into something fantastical. I found creating these pieces to be rewarding as it was something I could build for others to enjoy.
Now, AI offers a new frontier for this sculptural exploration.
What if, before the physical creation begins, one could visualize and iterate within a digital space? I approached AI with a sense of play, prompting it to sketch out dinosaurs adorned with feathers, a concept marrying prehistoric grandiosity with the delicate beauty of avian motifs.
The results were excellent—organic and undeniably eerie, they echoed the familiar aesthetic of my own work, yet extended it into uncharted territories of texture and form.
These AI iterations are more than mere sketches; they are a revelation of possibilities, offering a palette that my hands are now eager to translate into reality.
The range of tones, the suggestion of movement, the almost ethereal quality of these creatures crafted from feathers, all serve as a foundation for a tangible sculpture that would be as evocative as it is surreal.
With AI, the vision of a dinosaur feather sculpture is not only within reach, but it also expands the scope of what can be imagined, guiding the sculptor’s hands with the whispers of digital dreams.
