An Ode to Alexander (Lee) McQueen (Mummies)

There’s something about combining various unexplored aesthetics that turns me on. I love combining new and old, and in this case, mummies merged with tattoos seems like an exciting journey.

In the past when designing, I’d typically love the process of building the mummy from scratch in photoshop and then overlaying the hand drawn tattoos. In this case, I probably should have done that because the results were pretty gross.

But using McQueen as a pivot, there’s something interesting about how unapologetic the death-like features are in these creations, and the studio lighting and palette is similar to his brand. I imagine these studies would act well as a starting point of exploration – giving me a glimpse into the possibilities so I could decide if this visual world was worth further infestations.
