Neon Survival: Crafting Ren of ‘Foxes’

The tale of “Foxes,” as penned during the pandemic by my partner, Lan Laucirica aka “Steal Nephenson”, became a canvas for AI to sketch the cunning character of Ren, a runt-turned-reveler in theft.
The AI, with Midjourney’s V04 capabilities, captures his essence in a more articulate form, blending a post-apocalyptic neon glow with a rustic, hillbilly aesthetic. The character designs born from this fusion are commercial, yet layered, providing a foundation upon which imagination can build.
In this world, Ren emerges as an outcast with a status, her silent observation and unspoken suspicion casting her both within and beyond her pack. The AI’s designs offer a visual interpretation that complements the narrative, carving out a space where the commercial appeal does not overshadow the character’s depth.
As the AI navigates through nuances of character design, it pushes the boundaries of Ren’s world, creating potential for further exploration. The commercial feel of the designs is a doorway to a wider audience, while still offering the depth needed for a layered interpretation, inviting the audience to overlay their imagination upon the AI’s groundwork.
